Dr. Jonathan Kaplan is a fellowship-trained physician specializing in Interventional Pain Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He completed his Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center after completing an Emergency Ultrasound fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kaplan believes that exceptional pain care begins with trust, compassion, and genuine human connection. He strives to treat every patient as he would a member of his own family—offering the same honesty, empathy, and thoughtful guidance he would want for his spouse, parent, or sibling. Rather than viewing medicine as a traditional doctor-patient relationship, he believes in building a partnership where patients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout their care.
His approach combines evidence-based medical management, rehabilitative therapies, and advanced interventional pain procedures to improve function, reduce pain, and restore quality of life. He develops individualized treatment plans that may include physical therapy, medication management, injections, radiofrequency ablation, and more invasive procedures such as kyphoplasty, spinal cord stimulation, tailored to each patient’s needs.
Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Kaplan completed much of his medical training on the East Coast, including residency in New York City. He is grateful to now call Southern California home, although he still misses authentic New York bagels and pizza. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and cooking with his wife and their two young sons.
